In today's turbulent society, there is an urgent demand for designers to delve into the realm of social design. For me, that means designing with empathy to build experiences that create agency and belonging.

Empathy makes people feel understood and cared for.
Agency activates confidence and independence.
Belonging helps everyone experience safety and inclusion.

Over the course of my career, I have focused on projects that reflect these aims. This has led to working with patients with chronic conditions, people with disabilities, asylum-seekers, primary school children, and healthcare workers in remote, low-resource clinics.

Well-designed systems and products give people autonomy, increase their independence and create spaces we all feel welcome in. We all have the responsibility to design consciously and to create moments of joy wherever we can.
